About the Scholarship
Richard Thomas Van Haften was a man dedicated to family and community.  In honor of his memory, his wife, Charlene, and daughters established this scholarship to help Breckenridge High School students pursue their dreams of post-secondary education.
2009 is the first year this scholarship has been awarded through the Community Foundation.  Because the scholarship fund is endowed, it will award scholarships forever  to benefit Breckenridge High School students in Mr. Van Haften’s memory.
Number of Awards and Value
Two scholarships for $1,000 each
Requirements
- Must be a graduating senior of Breckenridge High School pursuing post-secondary education at an accredited college or university;
- Must have at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale;
- Consideration will be given to those demonstrating financial need;
- Consideration will be given to the applicant’s service to church, school and community as well as to demonstrated moral character.
